First Visit

At your first visit we will welcome you to the practice and you will meet with Dr. Fenell to determine and discuss your orthodontic problems and treatment options. This visit will consist of a complimentary examination and we will answer any questions and address any concerns that you may have. There are six questions that most patients have:

  • Is there an orthodontic problem that requires treatment, and if so, what is it?
  • Does it need to be treated now, or should it be treated later?
  • Do any teeth need to be removed?
  • How long will treatment take?
  • How much will it cost?
  • What are my payment options?

If treatment is indicated, we will recommend taking a set of diagnostic records. The records can be taken at this initial visit or an appointment can be set up to take the records at your convenience. Orthodontic records typically consist of impressions for study models of the teeth, digital photos of the patient’s teeth and face, and any necessary radiographs. The purpose of records is to gather information so that an accurate diagnosis can be made so as to determine the best course of treatment for you.

If no treatment is indicated at the time of your visit, we will place your child on orthodontic observation to monitor jaw growth, tooth eruption, and facial development. We will then start treatment at the appropriate time for the most efficient and effective therapy.

For your convenience, please bring your current dental insurance information so that we can better serve you.
